New VPN System WireGuard at KPI FEI TUKE

WireGuard is a modern, simple, and secure method to connect to the KPI FEI TUKE network. It allows you to access the department's internal resources securely and quickly from anywhere.

How to connect to WireGuard VPN?

Follow these simple steps:

1. Install the WireGuard Client

   • Download and install the WireGuard client for your device:
     • Windows, Linux, MacOS
     • Android (Google Play)
     • iOS (App Store)

2. Obtain VPN Configuration

   • Log in to the web interface at wg.kpi.fei.tuke.sk.
   • Click on LOGIN WITH SSO KPI FEI TUKE and sign in with your university account.
   • After logging in, the system will automatically generate your personal VPN configuration.

3. Download Configuration

   • Click on the OPEN MY PROFILE button.
   • Select your device from the list and click the eye icon.
   • Choose the "Download configuration" option to download the file, or use the displayed QR code for easy configuration on your mobile device.
   • You can also send the configuration to your email.

4. Import Configuration into WireGuard Client

   • Windows, Linux, MacOS:
     • Launch the WireGuard client and choose "Import tunnel from file."
     • Select the downloaded configuration file and confirm the import.
   • Android and iOS:
     • Open the WireGuard application on your mobile device.
     • Tap the “+” icon and choose "Scan QR code" for quick import, or select the import option from the downloaded file.

5. Activate VPN Connection

   • After importing, simply activate the VPN connection by switching on the toggle next to the connection name in the WireGuard app.
   • Upon successful connection, you'll receive a private IP address in the range 10.101.0.0/16, enabling access to all necessary departmental server resources.

• Clear logging and access control: Each device has a fixed IP, simplifying administration and activity tracking.

Original system OpenVPN (until March 13, 2025)

IMPORTANT: As of December 13, 2018, there has been a change in the configuration file. Everyone must replace their OpenVPN configuration file with the current one.

To access the KPI VPN system:

1. Install the OpenVPN-GUI package (or the latest version from OpenVPN.net).
2. Copy the configuration file to the "config" directory in the OpenVPN installation directory (usually C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config).
3. Right-click the OpenVPN GUI icon in the system tray and select VPN-KPI-FEI.
4. Enter your university login and password (unique LDAP TUKE login - such as MAIS).
5. After connecting to the VPN, you'll be assigned a private IP address in the range 10.100.0.0/16, allowing access to servers and their management.
